Our Story

We envision a world where individuals reconnect with themselves, others, and the planet, leading more conscious, balanced, and fulfilling lives.
We contribute to this vision by offering creative retreats that bring together art, culture, and travel as tools for connection and enhanced wellbeing, leaving you feeling inspired, recharged and connected.

This is for you if:
- You’re craving hands-on creative fun or already a practicing artist looking to stay inspired while you travel.
- You want meaningful cultural experiences, connecting with local artists instead of just ticking off tourist spots.
- You love the idea of small-group travel made by women, for women—of every age, stage, and sass level.
- You’re seeking connection, creativity, and rest—with a vibe that feels more like visiting friends than a tour group.
- You value wellbeing, love intentional travel, and feel drawn to explore the richness of South America.

More

Leah is originally from Bath, UK, with Peruvian roots and a lifelong connection to South America. After studying at Cambridge, she moved to Cochabamba, Bolivia in 2019 and co-founded Templo—a nonprofit focused on holistic health and creativity. There, she built deep ties with local artists, healers, and changemakers. In 2021, she co-founded Templo Travel with Carlijn to share Bolivia’s rich, often-overlooked culture through creative, connection-driven experiences.

Carlijn, originally from the Netherlands, has lived in Cochabamba since 2020 and hosts guests at Hacienda Telares, an ecolodge just outside the city. With a background in Cultural Anthropology, she came to South America seeking a slower, more meaningful way of life. Now based in the countryside, she blends homesteading with community work and creative programming—co-creating vibrant gatherings and events at Hacienda Telares alongside Leah.
The story behind
Templo Travel
Templo Travel was born from two community-rooted, values-driven initiatives - Hacienda Telares and Templo - both based in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and deeply committed to the transformative power of art, culture, and connection.
More
Hacienda Telares was the home of a sustainable weaving project in the early 2000s, where women from surrounding villages came together to preserve traditional natural dyeing and weaving techniques. True to its name—Telares, meaning “weavings” or “loom”—the hacienda evolved into a living metaphor for connection: a place where people continue to “weave” their experiences, skills, and stories together through retreats, trainings, and creative gatherings. Today, it hosts local NGOs, artists, and changemakers, all united by a desire to learn from one another and nurture community wellbeing.
Templo emerged during the global pandemic—a time when isolation underscored our deep need for belonging, creativity, and holistic health. A values-first nonprofit, Templo attracted local artists and facilitators to run workshops and events with the aim of enhancing wellbeing. It served as a hub for those seeking a healthier, more connected way of living.
Templo Travel is the natural extension of these roots—an invitation to explore the world while staying grounded in the values of creativity, connection, and shared growth.
